VAKIO JBFL, the joint venture between Finnish construction technology firm VAKIO and Indian building solutions company JB Fabinfra, has been awarded the exclusive contract to supply prefabricated VAKIO Pod™ bathroom units for the staff housing complex at Jindal Steel’s new $390 million integrated steel plant in Sohar, Oman.
Jindal Steel is constructing the 380,000-square-foot New Falaj Al Qabail Colony to house the staff of the massive 6.3 million-square-foot industrial facility.
The bathroom units will be manufactured at VAKIO JBFL’s production hub in Alwar, India, and shipped directly to the site in Oman, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026.
The VAKIO Pod™ is a prefabricated bathroom unit that arrives on-site with factory-installed tiling, fixtures, and MEP systems.
The Sohar steel plant runs parallel to Jindal’s broader $3 billion-plus expansion in the Sultanate, including a separate mega-complex in Duqm. These massive investments are central to the "Oman Vision 2040" strategy, which aims to diversify the national economy away from oil through domestic heavy industry and expanded non-oil exports.
